This is my lotus pattern I designed; I will use it to start the project so that I can cut out the pieces later as I need them. I will often make two so that I can cut the pieces from one and lay them on top of the other one. This way when I start assembling them, I am not just dealing with a lot of miscellaneous pieces that I can't figure out how to put together.
