I spent the day painting all the pillars for the background, choosing some of the colors used in Egyptian wall paintings. I also made separate pieces to go on the top of the pillars and used Shiva paint sticks and watercolor pencils to paint the tops.
I backed the pillars with a thin heavy batting after I painted them and then started placing the sky pieces.
